The story worth telling
A long terminal recording is difficult to follow without knowing what it is meant to produce. Show the successful output first, then walk through the few actions that make it happen. Keep sensitive values out of the source recording.
Three things to capture
- A visible output or changed application state
- The minimal configuration using dummy values
- The command or action that produces the result
Let the camera run a little before and after each action. Those extra seconds give you room to find a better cut.
Give the edit a shape

Explain the necessary setup
Run the action and verify the output
Before you share it
Replace tokens and account identifiers before filming. Verify commands and version-specific details against your documentation.
